any official star wars canon. because we are a non-fiction show! which means we’re canon…in the news department. our friendship is canon! star wars is pretty much the basis of ourbest friendship. let’s go to the news. e3 is currently underway in los angeles, wherethe biggest video games of the year are being shown to the public. that means battlefront ii debuted its epicnew multiplayer trailer during the ea play

live stream, as well as an extended look atthe multiplayer gameplay during the 20 v 20 assault on theed stream. hosted by commander iden veriso herself, janinagavankar (in a fierce as hell custom inferno squad dress) took the stage by storm…troopersto reveal that the single player story campaign will help bridge the gap between return ofthe jedi and the force awakens. aside from fan favorite modes like couch co-opand skirmish, battlefront ii will have more content than the last game. john boyega showed up in a pre-recorded messageto confirm that finn and captain phasma will be in the game, as well as the new planetcrait from the last jedi.

but best of all, all seasons of content willbe coming to everyone who owns battlefront ii for free starting with the last jedi themedpack in the fall. battlefront ii is available for pre-ordernow and everyone who pre-orders the game will get early access to the beta as well as instantupgrades to yoda’s lightsaber star card. but it wasn’t just the multiplayer demothat was seen, i was at ea play and got a chance to check out the single player campaignbehind closed doors...which was awesome, as well as talk to the creators. check it out. what’s up guys anthony carboni here at eaplay, this is where ea shows off everything

they have coming up for the next year andobviously one of the biggest games they have coming out is star wars battlefront ii. so we’re going to run inside for the revealand interview the team. welcome to ea play 2017. star wars battlefront ii is much bigger thanthe previous title. we got a lot of feedback, a lot of it positiveand a bunch of it constructive we finally get some single player campaignaction in battlefront, this has gotta be awesome for you. yeah and hopefully for john boyega as well.

that tweet from john boyega was like the tweetheard round the world. i actually took a screencap of that tweetand put it in one of my first presentations about the campaign. battlefront has really 3 key fantasies, it’sabout being a trooper on the ground to being a pilot in a straighter in the skies and it’sabout being an iconic hero. so we wanted to captures the same thing inthe campaign. our main characters idem versio. commander of inferno squad is my favoriteperson in star wars right now. it’s surreal to be able to invent somethingfor star wars.

finding janina gavankar was the moment wewere like that’s who it is. lets just re write the character around thisperson and that’s who she’s become. as you play throughout these chapters in thisjourney you will meet iconic characters. sometimes you’ll get to play as those iconiccharacters. we saw a little bit of the beginning of thecampaign. it’s so funny, the moment we shot a friendlylooking twilled everybody in the room went well, they’re the enemy now anthony. we fight for the empire. theed.

theed looks so good! i know it’s amazing, i’m so proud of whatwe’ve managed to achieve. let’s talk about this rank system; let’stalk about it all! let’s start with our class system; the classsystem is all changed. we found with our first game that people wereall playing the same way and that’s not what we want. we want to create teams and synergies betweenplayers so now we have an assault class, we have a heavy class, an officer class and aspecialist class and they’re all playing in unique ways.

you guys have such a pedigree with vehicles. the vehicles are such a significant part ofthe game. those skills are transferrable when you seeon the assault on theed, you get to play in the v-wing or a vulture droid, and those skillsare going to work for you in the larger space experiences. we’re going to go into a ton more detailwith starfighter assault in the coming months. is there a location, a character, somethingwhere you’re like i’m wedging this into the story, this is going into the story. and i am mentioning wedge, awh that was goodanthony i like that.

our game dips its fingers into everythingin star wars, we’ve read lost stars, we read the comics, we watch rebels. everything that is star wars matters to everystar wars story because it is one story. having increased the number of locations,we haven’t just done this across multiple eras, we have more heroes, more weapons, morevehicles, we have more of everything and all of these have a greater depth to them. now i wanted to ask about one weapon in particular,will the sws 1013 be in the game? i want to see this in battlefront! i can’t go into detail…that’s a yes.

battlefront ii looking absolutely amazing,thanks to the team here at ea for having us out. remember the beta starts this fall for everybodywho pre-orders, but that’s not all the battlefront ii we have this week, we’ve got janina gavankarback in the studio on the couch with andi. i think he’s heading for that small moon. that’s no moon. everybody! say what’s up to janina gavankar! she is all the way up here visiting usi am so excited.

so, commander iden versio. oh god. that has to be so exciting to see you up there. it’s the coolest thing that has ever happenedto me and i get super emotional all the time and i’m really sorry if that happens here. no it’s good! it’s good tv. what was it like playing a character likethat? we know that every villain is the hero ofhis or her own story, it’s exciting and

it means a lot to be able to explain thisperspective. the other thing i really urge people to dois get and read the book! it’s written by christie golden and it’sthe backstory of inferno squad so get the book! because you’re going to get our entire backstoryand it’s going to explain so much of who we are from the second you pick up your controller. that would be very good for people to knowand to understand and to feel at the level that we do when we made the game before youplay it. that’s like a personal request.

you guys got it! if you have an opportunity to learn aboutus, please learn about us. christie was working on the book at the sametime. how did speaking with her influence how youportrayed her? there is so much drama that i didn’t knowexisted in iden’s backstory that made her who she is from the moment that you startthat game. some very deep and very dark things have happenedto that woman. then it opened up a line of communicationbetween christie and i that i value so dearly. what was your path like to bring you to starwars?

how did you find out that you got the role? so, i really don’t want to get emotionalabout this, i’m trying to keep it together. okay, so beep. it’s okay we can skip it if you want? i’m just so happy! so everyday that went by i was calling myreps, is this the day we are going to get a yes or no. i need to know because i can’t, if i can’tget this i’m gonna lose my beep. everything was on the line more than any otherthing i’ve ever been up for.

it means so much to me. i’ve also never felt more safe to be myemotional, nerdy self. in any gig i’ve ever done, when you’rein hollywood a lot of it is, you gotta be cool! i’m cool man, i’m cool! i totally deserve to be here and i am verycool and you can trust me to be cool about it. i have no chill. zero chill.

and every person that i have met through thisexperience is just increasingly more wonderful. so finally, you have another cool projectin the works right now. yeah, so we’ve talked about christie’sbook. i get to voice the audio book. how cool is that? i am endlessly excited to be able to tellthe inferno squad 1 in my own voice so again, if you’re not gonna take the time to readit, atleast listen to it so you are ready for the video game when it comes out on november17th. you heard it.
