Sears Credit Card Customer Service, would close a store in kingsport and in bristol, virginia to make the company more profitable.
one of the stores is in the kingsport town center mall. the other... inside the bristol, virginia mall. sears also owns k-mart. the company said a k-mart in morristown is among 78 new k-mart stores to close down.
last year, we told you that a k-mart in bristol, tennessee and cedar bluff, virginia -- in tazewell county -- were closing. sears said they made the move because of what it called weak profits. news channel 11's jordan moore

will soon close its doors... a major announcement wednesday from sears as they plan to close stores across the country... that includes locations at the bristol mall in virginia and the kingsport town center... news that took some shoppers by
surprise... "i think thats sad, sears has been here for as long as i can remember." in a statement from sears holding they said they will continue to accelerate the closing of some "unprofitable" stores gfx
going on to say its a difficult but necessary step gfx "the investments they are going to make are going to be more cosmetic for the most part" just before the holidays kingsport city leaders voted on a financial incentive package that would help the
kingsport town center make some much needed renovations... kingsport mayor john clark even hinting that big changes could be on the horizon... "i think they are also going to be bringing in some new anchors."
so now that we know sears will be moving out, we asked kingsport's development services director lynn tully...what will move in ? "the sears location, actually because they expected it maybe to take a few more years, they don't have anyone waiting
in the wings but it definitely gives them a lot more opportunity." and josh sara... this was especially tough news for the bristol mall. as we've reported the belk store moved out...
relocating at the pinnacle shopping center. sears was the mall's last big department store. it's important to note.... today's announcement did not impact the sears or kmart stores in johnson city. reporting live in kingsport
